 Great bags! May 12, 2009
I love these grocery bags! They hold a large amount and they are sturdy. Every time I go to the store I am stopped by at least one person telling me how they love the colors.

I bought these bags about a month ago for two reasons:
FIRST, I decided that I didn't want to advertise local stores on their own bags, and wanted a more subtle way to be "greener".
SECOND, I got the idea to monogram these as gifts (and possibly to sell), and they look great. The ladies I've given them to really like them!
The only major drawback for me is that they have two BRIGHT PINK logos at the bottom on each side, which I do not like at all! I wanted absolutely plain bags, and pink clashes with some of my design plans. I can black out the logos with magic marker on the black bags, but can't do this on colors, so I'll probably never buy colors again.
The bags themselves seem OK: I just don't want to advertise CYMA, and a PINK recycle symbol somehow doesn't work for me.
I bought the assortment to see the bag colors for real, and I'd rather have another poly bag over the canvas bag...

I bought these less out of concern for the environment and more to cut down on the number of plastic bags I was 'saving' to reuse. I love these things. Right out of the pack I thought they seemed a little flimsy and I'd need way more than the 6 I got. But they hold up great, hold tons of groceries, and are easy to clean with just a trip through the wash.
In addition, I've had a couple of stores that don't advertise a discount if you bring your own bags extend me a 5-10 cent discount/per bag, so I'm saving money too!
There are only 2 drawbacks; one remembering to bring them with you. I'm pretty good when I go grocery shopping but I'm trying to remember to keep one folded up in my purse for any other shopping. The other problem is grocery baggers; in general the ones I encounter aren't very skilled and they usually become just inept with these things. It's like they don't bag with paper anymore so they don't know how to 'build' a bag.
Anyway, try them it's worth it just to cut down on the plastic that you keep meaning to find a use for.

I think that these are GREAT! I originally bought them for my best friend's birthday, but I invested in some for myself after seeing hers. They're fantastic! I can run in a get one thing, or go do all of my grocery shopping- it all fits in the bags wonderfully. Not to mention, I always get so many compliments on them in the grocery store. Great price for something that can help me cut down on my trash.

Most of my nearly 20 year old canvas grocery totes are wearing thin, to say the least. The artful, good-sized Trader Joe's bag I bought last year for $1.98 while visiting civilization is beginning to come apart at the seams. This set of bags fit the bill for price and something sturdy and not terribly ugly, to stash in the car trunk. They are a little bigger than the store branded bags available at the grocery and Wally World. My set arrived with a free insulated bag, as well, which is important if transporting refrigerated or frozen goods more than a few blocks in summer.
Another reviewer has appropriately pointed out that these are a not-so-easily-biodegradable synthetic product produced with oil by-products and manufactured overseas. When I weigh my carbon and manufacturing origin guilt against the fact that I cannot replace the canvas bags with an affordable alternative produced with biodegradable American textiles stitched in America anymore, and that I am not bringing home plastic shopping bags left and right, and the fact that a by-product does not necessarily increase the demand on oil . . . . I'm happy with these bags. There is no perfect solution anymore and this is better than most.
